Visiting our collaborators in Guatemala
This week, we are excited to be in Guatemala and to be meeting up with the folks who produce our lovely designs.
In Panajachel at the Atitlán lake, we met with Carmelina. She and her mother Juliana live nearby in Sololá and Juliana weaves the traditional fabrics, and Carmelina turns many of them into pillow cases or coin purses for Ixmuyal.
Although tourism is slowly picking up again, the streets in Panajachel are still fairly empty, meaning that many locals, who rely on tourism to feed their families, still suffer.
Tomorrow, we will be travelling to our partners at Casa Flor Ixcaco where we currently produce our new textile designs made from naturally died threads. Stay tuned!
